Microblading is a new and updated semi-permanent make-up technique in which we create a natural-looking balance of symmetry and precision tailored to each individual’s unique proportions by manually inserting pigment into the upper layers of skin. The effects can last up to 12-24 months, depending on your skin type, after which the pigment fades leaving the skin and your natural brows, as they were before. The results are very natural and life-like, giving the brows a natural, fuller look.
-
Microblading is an extremely meticulous process and a session can take about 2-3 hours to complete. The first hour is spent measuring and ‘mapping’ with a pen to achieve the symmetry and shape of the brows.
Once the shape is agreed upon by you and your provider, any excess hair outside the drawn in brow are tweezed, and then the first pass of ‘strokes’ will be done. The color mask is then applied for 5 minutes. After the color mask is removed topical numbing cream will be applied to help with any discomfort. More strokes are then added using to add volume and fill in gaps. Lastly, a color mask is applied.
The skin type of our clients is taken into consideration, and the pressure and technique are adjusted accordingly, with the result being a look that is hyper realistic and three-dimensional.
When the treatment is complete your brows will appear 15% larger and 30-40% darker than the final healed results. Before leaving the office, you will be given after care instructions and products for your at home care.
Final results after the first session can be seen just after 3 weeks. A second session or touch-up is recommended between 6 & 8 weeks after the first session to fix any small imperfections as well as make the brows darker or a bit thicker if desired.

It is imperative and very important to meet in-person to discuss eligibility, concerns, expectations, etc. so there are no surprises through this process for you.
From the moment you meet at your consultation, Alicia is already profiling your expressions— when you are talking, when you're having muscle movement, when you’re smiling or laughing— and piecing together a plan. Our faces have large muscles in forehead, so it is key to allow Alicia to note the anatomy of your brow structure and any asymmetry.
-
No. When you come in the day of your procedure, we will start the process. No microblading is performed until you and Alicia agree with the color selected and the shape that fits you best.

Two different types of numbing agents are used to help alleviate any discomfort. Most clients report little or no pain! We use a topical anesthetic before the procedure to numb the affected area. The treated area can be a little sore for the first few hours, and it is not uncommon for it to be tender for a few days.

Consultations are typically 15-30 minutes long. The microblading process and your subsequent appointments will take between two to three hours.

It certainly depends on the type of scar—so we recommend you come in for a consultation so Alicia can see your eyebrows without makeup so Alicia can determine whether you’re a candidate for microblading.
-
Do not wear makeup on the brows for at least two weeks after your procedure, but everywhere else is fine, being careful not to get it on the treated area(s).

The entire healing process takes 4-6 weeks, depending on your age and body regeneration. Your brows will go through several phases during the healing process. Flaking and itching may appear during the first 7 days after microblading, however with diligent after-care these symptoms may dissipate more quickly.
Your brows will appear very sharp and dark immediately after your treatment as the pigment has not yet settled and is still sitting on top of the skin. The color will gradually soften. Do not be alarmed if you see some pigment on the cotton round– this is just excess pigment and/or body fluid naturally exiting your body.
Once the healing begins, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. (This is just superficial pigment and dry skin being naturally removed from your brows.) The final look of your brows will be noticeable about 30 days after your treatment.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to natural skin regeneration, after the recovery period (the peeling phase), your brows might appear lighter than they originally did. This may give you the impression that the color is fading too quickly. Often, even with proper after-care, you may lose original hair strokes which can make the brows look uneven. THIS IS NORMAL! Therefore, a touch-up session 6-8 weeks after your initial treatment is required. Please refrain from rubbing the treated area as it will disturb the skin from natural healing.
THE FIRST 24 HOURS:
— Always wash your hands with an antibacterial soap before wiping your brows and/or applying the Aquaphor.
— Every 2-3 hours, wipe your brows using light pressure with a cotton round moistened with filtered or bottled water followed by a thin grain-size layer of Aquaphor with a clean finger or Q-tip. (Do not over saturate the cotton pad with too much water. Less is more when applying the Aquaphor – too much will cause the pigment to fade.)WEEK ONE:
— Gently wipe brows with a moistened cotton round and apply a thin grain-size layer of Aquaphor with a cotton swab once a day. (This can be done after a shower or before bed.) Make sure to use the Aquaphor sparingly! The skin needs to breathe so it can heal itself
— Use a clean face cloth to cleanse your skin without splashing water on your face
— Scabbing is to be expected during the healing process. DO NOT pick, peel, or scratch the brow area - this can cause scarring or pigment removal.
— Do not use skin lightening or acne products that contain benzoyl peroxide, AHA/BHAs, or hydroquinone
— Avoid long, hot, steamy showers and getting your brows wet in the shower – DO NOT face the shower head, especially when washing your hair. Cup your hands around your forehead in the shower
— Avoid swimming, hot tubs, saunas, or hot baths
— Avoid heavy exercise and increased sweating for 7-10 days– sweat is salty and can fade your brows prematurely
— Put a clean pillowcase on your pillow and keep pets out of your bed
— Keep your brows out of the sun. Make use of hats, sunglasses, and the visor in your vehicle
— Avoid tanning beds or spray tanning
— Do not drink alcohol in excess – you want the wounds to heal quickly
— Avoid any laser, chemical treatments, or peelsWEEKS 2 & 3:
— You may now splash water on your face and shower normally, but do not ‘wash’ your brows with your regular cleanser yet!
— You may resume with your normal workout routine.
— Do not use any creams that contain Retin-A, AHA/BHAs, or hydroquinone on the face.
— Continue to be careful of sun exposure.WEEK 4:
—You may now wash, (not scrub) your brows with a gentle, oil-free cleanser.
— Continue to avoid skin lightening or acne products that contain benzoyl peroxide and/or hydroquinone.
— Avoid ALL products containing oil for the lifetime of your brows – the oil strips pigment! If you have any questions or concerns during your healing process, you can contact Alicia at (207) 805-8920 during office hours.

It is recommended that you "refresh" your brows once a year to maintain your results. These colors fade over time because they are not implanted as deeply in the dermis as typical tattoo ink. Protect your investment! Microblading will require consistent care once healed to ensure a lasting and natural result.
— Depending on the client's lifestyle, skin type, and aftercare, permanent makeup can last anywhere from 9 months to 2+ years.
— The sun and other forms of UV rays (tanning beds, for example) are the most dangerous 'enemies' of microblading, as they cause the pigment to discolor and fade.
— When going outside, always apply sunscreen to the treated area, make use of hats, sunglasses, etc. once healed completely to avoid excessive fading or discoloration of the pigment
— Continue to remove unwanted brow hair outside of your microbladed shape by tweezing, waxing, threading, or shaving
— Avoid anti-aging and exfoliating products around your brows that containing retinols, AHAs/BHAs, hydroquinone, benzoyl peroxide, and other similar ingredients. Over time, this will result in premature fading.PLEASE NOTE: The results are natural-looking, fuller brows. The brows may appear darker at first, but they will fade significantly over the next two weeks. Alicia uses premium products and provides exceptional service, but each client heals differently, and many factors contribute to varying outcomes. It is critical to have a microblading touch-up done because it is difficult to predict how well the pigment will be retained by your skin. Results cannot be guaranteed due to this and other varying factors.

Touch-ups are recommended between 6-12 weeks following your initial microblading treatment. Touch-ups are done no earlier than 6 weeks after your initial procedure. If you do not schedule your microblading touch-up within twelve weeks, you will forfeit the discounted price and be required to pay the 3-6 month color refresh fee of $250.
At the touch-up, Alicia will assess your color retention and adjust as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your microblading does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! Alicia can always go bolder and add more density as well as correct any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes during the touch-up. Microbladed eyebrows typically last one to two years for most people and will fade over time. Therefore, a color refresh may be needed every 12 months to 18 months. Those who do not follow aftercare instructions properly may require more frequent microblading touch-ups.
